HOW TO LOOK AT THE THRUSTER SETUP:

surf faster = surf better

Thruster fins should be viewed as a continuum between twins fins and single fins.

On the twin fin end of the spectrum there is a pivot fin set on both rails. as a result, rail to rail transition are quick, but heavy back foot pressure can spin the tail out.

Single fins, on the other hand, are slow at the rail transitions, but can take all the back foot pressure you can give and are self adjusting in critical situations.

Thruster can be configured to to give the flavor of each of these setups while retaining characteristics of the other. This is their greatest strength and why the thruster has become the standard.

You can fine tune a thruster board for the day's surf by using these ideas. larger side fins with a smaller center fin will loosen a board up. Smaller side fins with larger center will draw the board out.

Experiment, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
